internships in new orleans

Jumpslide offers internship opportunities based in New Orleans for students at area universities. Interns are expected to work approximately eight hours per week for three to six months, and will receive a monthly honorarium. Work will be remote and at our offices in the Bywater, as well as occasionally elsewhere in the city.

Jumpslide internships are wide-ranging in scope, but all focus on supporting our cultural, campaign and management strategy work for clients while building critical skills in the interns so that they can continue on their path as changemakers. One day interns might be helping to convene a learning network of artists, funders, and / or organizers, and the next doing research for a proposal, article or training module. One week they might be helping to create a cultural strategy plan to help build political power with young people of color in the Midwest or working families across America, and the next supporting coaching and organizational development work for social justice organizations in New Orleans and across the nation.

As a result of this wide range of work, Jumpslide interns will learn things like:

  • How pop culture can support social justice movements, and how social justice movements can support artists to create change.

  • Strategies at the intersection of entertainment, community and political organizing, marketing, and social change.

  • How to conduct audience research, cultural audits, strategic planning, etc.

  • The life cycles of nonprofits and movements, and what they need at every stage

  • How to program and produce events and content that engage intended audiences...and a lot more.

Interns should have excellent communications skills (both written and verbal), an interest in innovation and social justice, great soft skills, an intense curiosity, and know how to get around on the internets and computers. We will teach everything else. We are particularly interested in candidates who are women and people of color.

If you think you are a good candidate for our program, please email us a note that shows your communications skills and passion with your resume to hello@jumpslide.com
